Jacksonville Valentine’s Day Activities
Whether you’re looking for a weekend getaway in Northeast Florida or you’re a local seeking some romantic tips for the looming Valentine’s Day holiday, here’s the scoop on luxurious spa treatments, romantic kayak excursions, yummy menus and the sweetest chocolate shops, all in honor of that holiday with all the hearts.
The newly renovated Spa Lattera invites couples to create a Valentine’s Day experience by choosing one of their three most popular offerings – the couple's massage, couple's facial or couples manicure and pedicure. Looking to really win your special someone over? Choose the signature couples Kerstin Florian refreshing, renewing couples facial with complimentary paraffin experience or the signature chocolate and strawberry couples manicure and luxurious couples pedicure, an exquisite two-hour experience. Not sure you’ll want to drive after all that relaxation, get a room at The Laterra Resort. It’s beautiful and very quiet.
Been there, done the strawberries and chocolate massage (lucky you!)? Then try a Couples Chocolate and Pomegranate Wrap at The Spa at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island. This special two and one-half hour Valentine’s Day experience includes a honey vanilla milk bath, a chocolate-pomegranate wrap, a warm scalp oil massage and a body massage. During the wrap, the couple is cocooned together in a thermal blanket to let the warm, chocolate mask penetrate the skin. Afterwards, retreat to a co-ed relaxation lounge to linger fireside. Sounds like you’ll really need to like your mate for this one – cocooned in chocolate, you say?
For more sweets, but with a little space of your own, head to the Museum of Science & History on Feb. 12. Bring your valentine to the Museum of Science & History (MOSH) to enjoy the view of the Downtown skyline from MOSH’s rooftop. The romantic, child-free evening will include a special valentine-themed Cosmic Concert, music, stargazing and time to explore the museum. Sweet treats, beer and wine will be served. Bella Luna takes place 7 - 10 p.m.
The Omni Amelia Island Plantation offers a variety of romantic activities, including a really cool kayak tour and beachside bonfire. Couples can glide through the marshes at sunset on Feb. 13 while naturalists highlight the birds and wildlife as they settle in for the night. A roaring bonfire with complimentary champagne is served with a selection of desserts.
Looking to getaway for the weekend, the Sweet Rendezvous Romance Package is the perfect getaway with luxurious accommodations, sparkling wine, gourmet chocolate truffles, breakfast for two and a late checkout. Cupid (he doesn’t actually have wings and he’s otherwise known as the Omni concierge) will also call in advance to customize any additional arrangements to make everything perfect. Frugal couples make note – those who get engaged at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation over Valentine's Day weekend will receive a complimentary weekend night certificate to use on their honeymoon or other special occasion. Also on the Omni Amelia Island property, The Veranda Restaurant is serving an incredibly romantic menu and The Spa & Shops have great specials.
The Renaissance Resort in St. Augustine is also tempting you with a weekend getaway - the “Escape! Romance Package.” Package includes accommodations in a deluxe guest room, a choice of a bottle of champagne or a bottle of wine upon check-in, turndown service with chocolate-covered strawberries and breakfast-for-two daily in the resort’s exceptional 500 South Restaurant. If you’re celebrating late, this package is available through March 26.
So, you’re more of a bar fly, well, we have something for you too. Make it a memorable experience on Valentine's Day at Culhane’s Irish Pub of Diner’s Drive-ins and Dives fame. Receive a complimentary glass of champagne by reserving early on their website. Entertainment provided by Johnston Duo 6-9 p.m. and a special a la carte menu offered, featuring Italian wedding soup, crab and mushroom filled puff pastry, escargot, choice of one of three entrees like grilled sea bass and chocolate mousse with strawberries for dessert. Yum! Now, that’s no bar food and the chef at Culhane’s is very talented.
Don’t forget sweet treats at Sweet Pete’s, a home-grown, all natural candy shop in Springfield (how’s that for an out of the box, box of chocolate?) and Peterbrooke Chocolatier. You know you’d love to receive their infamous chocolate covered popcorn!
