Give Thanks to Not Have to Cook on Thanksgiving

Ah, Thanksgiving...a time for friends and family, gratitude and...cooking for days on end.  And the clean up after the massive meal?  Who needs it?

For those visitors in town celebrating Winter on the Water in Jacksonville or residents who want the turkey and cranberries without the hassle, our friends at The Florida Times-Union developed a list of Jacksonville-area restaurants who will be serving up dinner...just like the pilgrims and indians did.

The full list can be found at Gary Mills' Dining Notes blog, but here are a few of our favorites:

Casa Marina Hotel, 691 First St. N., Jacksonville Beach. Thanksgiving brunch, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost:  $38.95 adults, half price for children 5 to 10. Reservations recommended, (904) 270-0025.

Gigi’s Restaurant at the Ramanda Mandarin, 3130 Hartley Road. Buffet, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cost: $26.95 adults, $12.95 children ages 3 to 10. Reservations recommended, (904) 694-4300.

Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront, 225 E. Coast Line Drive. Traditional Thanksgiving buffet, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost: $29.95 adults, $14.95 children 5 to 12 and free for children under 4. Reservations recommended, (904) 634-4541.

Maggiano’s Little Italy, 10367 Midtown Parkway at St. Johns Town Center. Three-course Thanksgiving dinner served family-style, noon to 7 p.m. Cost: $32.95 adults, $15.95 children 5 to 12 years old. Reservations recommended. (904) 380-4360.

Ruth’s Chris Steak House, 814 A1A N., Suite 103, Ponte Vedra Beach. Traditional Thanksgiving meal, noon to 8 p.m. Cost: $34.95. Reservations recommended. (904) 285-0014.

Sawgrass Marriott restaurants, 1000 PGA Tour Blvd., Ponte Vedra Beach:

Cafe on the Green. Thanksgiving buffet, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cost: $59 per person. (904) 285-7777.

Augustine Grille. Regular menu with additional Thanksgiving turkey dish, 6 to 10 p.m. (904) 285-7777.

V. Kelly’s. Regular menu, 6 a.m. to noon and 5:30 to 10 p.m. (904) 285-7777.

The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island restaurants, 4750 Amelia Island Parkway, Amelia Island:

Ballroom, Thanksgiving Day Feast, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost: $89 per adult, $45 per child, ages 5-12 (includes gratuity). Reservations required, (904) 277-1100.

Café 4750, Thanksgiving buffet, 3 to 9 p.m. Cost: $62 per adult, $28 per child, ages 5-12 (gratuity not included). Reservations required, (904) 277-1100.

Salt, Four-course holiday menu, 4 to 9 p.m. Cost:  $105 per person (gratuity not included). Reservations required, (904) 277-1100.

It's cool to create a backyard habitat for bees and hummingbirds and butterflies, and is pretty amazing how much life just a small butterfly garden can have. We went to talk to expert Mark from Treehill Nature Center in Jacksonville Florida. Treehill is known for its yearly butterfly festival and Mark knows what plants you need to use. From afar it doesn't look that difficult, but when you take a closer look, you'll realize that kitesurfing takes a lot of coordination. It was a beautiful day at the beach.
