825 Miles of Oil-Free Florida Beaches

Yes, it's been a while since my last post (I know...slacker!), but I have a great excuse. I've been too busy enjoying Jacksonville's 21 miles of beaches. Make that oil-free beaches!
A September study by YPartnership asked potential visitors to Florida if they were likely or less likely to come to our state's beaches and mentioned specific coastal cities in the state. Of those polled, 23 percent said that they were less likely to come to Jacksonville Beach due to oil. That's insane! Jacksonville is far removed from where the Deepwater Horizon spill occurred last spring, not to mention that none of Florida's beaches have seen any remnants oil in quite some time - if at all.

For this reason, VISIT FLORIDA and cities around the state are working together to showcase Florida's 825 miles of gorgeous coastline with Saturday's Great VISIT FLORIDA Beach Walk on the morning of Nov. 6. Volunteers will be walking a mile to show their support for our beaches and they will be posting images of each mile in the state to the designated Beach Walk website to be seen across the world.
TWEETUP ALERT! Visit Jacksonville will be walking one of those miles with all our Twitter followers Saturday morning beginning at 9 a.m. Interested in joining us? We will be meeting our Tweet Up participants at Atlantic Blvd. and the Atlantic Ocean and walking south through Neptune Beach to Oleander St. We'll all be taking pics and posting them on the Beach Walk page and through our vast social media channels - whether it be on Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, etc.
Come meet other followers of @Visit_Jax on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 9 a.m. and get out and enjoy our beautiful beaches! Hope to see you there!
