Posted On: July 01, 2010 9:21 AM Posted By: Jennifer Bryant Related Subjects: Events  Family Fun

This weekend is the perfect time to get together with friends and   family.  And Jacksonville attractions are offering incredible deals and   special engagements over the holiday weekend.  If you’re affiliated with   the military, then you are especially in luck, as three attractions are   offering special deals just for you!  Here’s the scoop to celebrating   the 4th of July weekend in Jacksonville:

The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens is offering free admission for military personnel and their families   Friday, July 2 and Saturday, July 3.  The museum is open special holiday   hours on July 4, opening at 6 p.m. for the Garden Jazz Concert.  Guests   can bring blankets, chairs and food and enjoy a riverfront performance   by The St. Johns River City Band.  Downtown fireworks are viewable from   the Cummer gardens.  Price is just $10.

Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens hosts an Independence Day weekend celebration on Saturday, July 3 and   Sunday, July 4, from 10:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.  There will be live Americana   and Dixieland music from the St. Johns River City Band on July 3 and the   Stevie Fingers ensemble on July 4 in the Range of the Jaguar. T here   will also be prize drawings and activities that are sure to cool off the   kids, such as a water slide, dunk tank, and a duck pond game in the   Great Lawn.  Uncle Sam will also be greeting guests at the entrance from   12 p.m. to 3 p.m. each day.  And Jazoo, the Zoo’s friendly lion mascot,  will be there dressed in his patriotic gear ready to celebrate.

Military personnel are also honored with a special admission offer, buy   one admission and get one admission at an equal or lesser value free   with a coupon and military ID on July 3 and 4 only.  The coupon for this   special admission discount will be available on the zoo’s website

Adventure Landing has declared Saturday, July 3 and Sunday, July 4, as "Military   Appreciation Weekend."  All active and retired military personnel will   receive their choice of a free Shipwreck Island Waterpark admission   (Jacksonville Beach location only) or Quest Pass during this timeframe   (offered at all Northeast Florida locations).  A Quest Pass, a $16.99   value, is valid for any combination of three attractions including   miniature golf, go-karts and laser tag.  The military honoree can   purchase additional waterpark or Quest Passes for their family at a $5   discount each during Military Appreciation Weekend.

The Museum of Science & History is offering $5 Friday this summer with extended hour to 8 p.m.  Check out the incredible Narnia exhibit and stay cool.

"Dinner and a Movie" packages will be available at the World Golf Hall of Fame on July 2, the evening of WGV fireworks celebration.  Package includes a   buffet dinner and musical entertainment at Fairways Café, the special   engagement The Twilight Saga: Eclipse: The IMAX Experience at   the World Golf Hall of Fame IMAX® Theater and unlimited free putting on   the Hall’s 18-hole putting course.  Packages are $35 for adults with   special pricing for children and IMAX Movie Club Members.  Reservations   can be made by calling 904-940-4118.

Jacksonville loves its fireworks and there are three places for you to   catch a lighted spectacular - The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville at   the conclusion of the Suns game, over Downtown riverfront and at the Beaches.  Happy 4th of July!
