Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens hosts an Independence Day weekend celebration on Saturday, July 3 and Sunday, July 4, from 10:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be live Americana and Dixieland music from the St. Johns River City Band on July 3 and the Stevie Fingers ensemble on July 4 in the Range of the Jaguar. T here will also be prize drawings and activities that are sure to cool off the kids, such as a water slide, dunk tank, and a duck pond game in the Great Lawn. Uncle Sam will also be greeting guests at the entrance from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. each day. And Jazoo, the Zoo’s friendly lion mascot, will be there dressed in his patriotic gear ready to celebrate.
Military personnel are also honored with a special admission offer, buy one admission and get one admission at an equal or lesser value free with a coupon and military ID on July 3 and 4 only. The coupon for this special admission discount will be available on the zoo’s website.
