Take a Ride on the Whisky Side!
Take two ounces of rock and roll, an ounce of country, add a splash of Southern Hospitality, mix and serve.
—That’s Whisky River!
In the event you have been living under a rock for the past - oh - few months, come hither and feast your eyes on what will indubitably be the new nightly rendezvous for all of Jacksonville.
I had my first taste of the sweet Whisky last Wednesday, about an hour and a half after their doors swung open for their soft launch. Seems like some folks - as in, a LOT of folks, wanted to check it out before it was forever swarmed. Great minds think alike methinks.
Some of my girlfriends and I plopped down at one of the patio tables to enjoy the beautiful weather and the sights of the St. Johns Town Center. The beers racked up quickly [likely story] especially when accompanied by [wait for it] the appetizer sampler to end all samplers! Cue the wings, rings, sticks and ‘dillas, oh momma! Want more? Try one of their burgers, wings, pizzas or sandwiches.
Quick digestion and to the bar we go!
I love everything about this bar. Not only a) are the bartenders the nicest I’ve ever met [hello Peavy!] b) does it sport belt buckles across the entire width of the bar c) are the drinks are darn good but d) you can ride the bull behind the bar!
[and I said “you” with darn good reason. You won’t see me up on that bull with a full house anytime soon, but I commend the gals who can]
Good jams, great drinks, awesome people and oh, don’t forget that Whisky River is open seven days a week for lunch, dinner, after-work drinks, evening entertainment and late-night snacks [say what!?] You saw right, their menu is served from 11 a.m. - 2 a.m. daily!
Oh Whisky River, you’re a succulent poison and consequently [note, this now only six days after their soft opening] I am now your FourSquare Mayor. Is my geek showing? With that said, hit them up on all social media fronts for more information about events, VIP areas and even shhhh ... tickets to their Grand Opening Party this Thursday, April 15. You might even see owner and NASCAR superstar Dale Earnhardt, Jr.!
