Jacksonville: It’s Time to “Revive the Pride”
The final home game of the Jacksonville Jaguars season is approaching. On Dec. 17 the Jaguars will tackle the undefeated Indianapolis Colts during the season’s only prime time game. The City of Jacksonville has declared this day as "Revive the Pride Day." As a loyal fan and season ticket holder for the past five years, I’m 100 percent behind this movement. This movement is an initiative to fill seats and create life-long fans for years to come - what could be better than that?
Hoping to inspire some of you to become fans or to at least have a Jaguars experience, either on "Revive the Pride" day or the coming game against Miami on Dec. 13, here are some of my favorite things about Jacksonville Jaguars football and GAMEDAY!
Start ‘em young! Those of us that are fans today can pass down our love of Jacksonville Jaguars football. With such a young team, we are growing our fan base year after year and creating a great tradition for generations to come.
This group of people may be the most superstitious fans I know. These die-hard fans (notice we’re all women) make their own custom-made T-shirts for every game - always poking fun of the opponent - you never know what clever slogan they’ll come up with. These girls also believe getting a group of people to eat Twinkies before a home game also causes us to win. See what I mean about tradition?
There is nothing like the roar of the crowd and all of us yelling in unison at a bad call or jumping up and down for a touchdown. And egging us all on is the best mascot in the NFL, Jaxson de Ville. What other mascot do you know that crowds surfs over the crowd in the stadium?
Tailgating - enough said! Football gives us all an excuse to wake up to our favorite cocktail of choice and eat off the grill. And just think, in Jacksonville we’re never tailgating in the snow.
Get out there and "Revive the Pride!" I hope to see you all for the last two 2009 Jacksonville Jaguars season games and for years to come.
