Gearing Up for Halloween - Here’s the Scoop on Spooky Events Around Northeast Florida:

Adventure Landing Jacksonville Beach will offer its 34^th annual Hall of Terror beginning Oct. 9 and continuing through Halloween.  In addition, this year the park again spooks up Shipwreck Island Waterpark with the Haunted River Ride.  The Lil’ St. John’s Lazy River in Adventure Landing’s waterpark will be converted to a haunted ride, where passengers will hop on a raft where haunted surprises await.  Adventure Landing will also be hosting a Hallo-WEE Party on Halloween this year, Saturday, Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. for children 12 and under.  The not-so-scary Hallo-WEE Party will feature crafts, games, face painting and a costume contest. www.adventurelanding.com

Sppoktacular at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens returns this year, Oct. 22-25, 29-31, 6:30 - 9 p.m.  Pumpkinville comes alive with hundreds of pumpkins, fun, candy and excitement!  Enjoy trick-or-treating, music, dancing, food, giant slides and bounce houses and see some of your favorite zoo animals.  Take a picture with Jazoo or one of his friends, and visit with the Pumpkinville People, scarecrows, frog prince and many more!  New this year is the exciting Pharaoh’s Tomb and Abandoned Mine Shaft.  And don’t forget to check out Pirates’ Cove where seafaring men and women will entertain you and fend off the alligators. www.jacksonvillezoo.org

Monster MOSH at the Museum of Science & History (MOSH) takes place Oct. 30 from 5-9 p.m.  This Halloween-themed event will thrill and chill visitors with fun activities including experiments, ghoulish games, trick-or-treating, pumpkin decorating and haunted exhibit tours.  Costume and scream contests will also be part of the action at this annual frighteningly fun fall festival.  The fun continues on Oct. 31 with the Halloween Cosmic Concert.  Featuring haunted hits like "Ghostbusters" and "Monster Mash," this show promises to be all treats, no tricks.  The concert will play at 8, 9 and 10:30 p.m. www.themosh.org

The Five Points Theatre is hosting a Horror Film Festival on Oct. 29 at 5 p.m.  Check out scary movies in this historic movie theatre, serving beer and other refreshments. www.5pointsjax.com

Tree Hill Nature Center is hosting the Harvest Moon Festival, the quintessential family fall festival with haunted trails, hay rides, scarecrows, bobbing for apples, pumpkin pie eating contest, chili cook-off and costume contest on Oct. 24.  This one-of-a-kind nature education center is a best-kept local secret.  Festival takes place from 5-10 p.m. www.treehill.org
