No Matter Your Colors, We All Celebrate Together
To this day, and even when I was in college [wayyyy back .. in April], I really never gave a hoot about football. My great Alma Mater [the illustrious Ospreys, hailing from the University of North Florida] was never blessed with a football team so I didn't feel the need to argue over the rivalries or bowl games.
But I'll be one to admit, UGA's AD Damon Evans, put it best. The Florida/Georgia game is truly "part of the fiber of college football."
Ever since I've been in Jacksonville, it was never Halloween that got me excited about the month of October. I was first exposed to Florida/Georgia, a holiday of sorts in my eyes, in the fall of 2005. Granted, I didn't go to the game itself, but rather, enjoyed the festivities post game. You know where I'm going with this.
All hail The Jacksonville Landing! For years it has been my Flordia/Gerogia stomping ground and believe me, I plan to continue that great tradition.
This year, The Landing is bringing even more exciting events and acts for Gator and Bulldog fans alike. Thursday, October 29 starts the celebration with no entrance fee and an Orange Tree Hot Dog [omg amazing much!?] Eating Contest at 7p.m. The champion will receive two tickets to the Florida vs. Georgia game on Saturday! Live music by The Ride starts at 9:30p.m.
Friday and Saturday welcomes live entertainment from 8p.m. - 2a.m., with muscial stylings from [my personal favorite] Little Green Men to the winner of the Last Band Standing competition, INFinity. For a list of all of the acts, head on over to The Jacksonville Landing's facebook event here.
Can't score tickets to the game like the lucky me [just rubbing it in, you know me]? Arrive early to The Landing and watch the big game during the live Jumbotron broadcast starting at 3:30p.m.
So no matter what colors you're sporting for the weekend [you'll find me in ORANGE & BLUE!], make sure you stop by The Jacksonville Landing for a weekend of fun!
